New Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan Presents Credentials
The new Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the United Nations, Aiaz Baetov, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General António Guterres today.

Mr. Aiaz Baetov was appointed Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Nations in September 2026.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Baetov served as Minister of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic from October 2021 and as Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers from March 2025, where he was responsible for advancing efforts to reduce bureaucracy and improve the efficiency of public administration.
In 2025, he also served concurrently as Director of the National Institute for Strategic Initiatives under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Baetov held various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court, and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic. He also worked with the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative, including as Country Director for Uzbekistan, and taught law at universities in Kyrgyzstan.
Mr. Baetov holds a Doctor of Legal Sciences degree from Kyrgyz National University and a Master of Public Policy degree from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Japan. He was also a Visiting Scholar at Harvard Law School.
He speaks Kyrgyz, Russian and English.
Mr. Baetov is married and has children.
