Presidential Message on National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
During National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we celebrate the resilience and courage of our Nation’s four million breast cancer survivors, extend our unwavering support to those currently in the fight, and honor the memory of beloved family members and friends lost to this terrible disease.
In an instant, a breast cancer diagnosis forever changes the life of the patient and the lives of those around them. This year in the United States, more than 380,000 women will receive this devastating news, and approximately 40,000 souls will be lost to breast cancer. Thanks to medical breakthroughs, increased public awareness, and early detection, survival rates have drastically improved—but these numbers represent shattered lives and families, and that is unacceptable.
Through our historic mission to Make America Healthy Again, my Administration is committed to conquering chronic illness and advancing cutting-edge research, treatment options, and innovative therapies that will enhance the quality of life for men and women battling breast cancer and other diseases. Under my leadership, we will never stop working to deliver the breakthroughs, treatments, and cures that American patients and families deserve.
Breast cancer has caused immeasurable pain, fear, and uncertainty on too many American families, and throughout this month, we stand in compassionate solidarity with all cancer warriors. The First Lady and I encourage every person to know their family medical history and risk factors and to become a fierce advocate for their own health. May God comfort those who mourn, give strength to those suffering, and offer grace to the caregivers as we anticipate, with hope and confidence, the day this horrific disease is defeated once and for all.
