Russian Railways Is Working on Tourist Trains to China
Russian Railways is working on tourist trains to China. This was stated by the deputy head of Russian Railways Ivan Kolesnikov, the company said in a statement.
The carrier expects that this proposal will be worked out as early as 2027.
I. Kolesnikov, whose words are quoted in the message, said that the route network of tourist trains is constantly expanding. Currently, Russian Railways offers 120 tourist trains to its tourists. Of these, 78 are long–distance and 42 are suburban. The number of subjects of the Russian Federation involved in this work is growing every year.
So, the schedule of tourist trips for 2027 and the beginning of 2028 has already been approved. The number of trains will increase to 131, of which 87 are long–distance. The route network will become wider, new regions and cities will be added.
JSC "Russian Railways" was established on October 1, 2003 on the basis of the Ministry of Railways. The state owns 100% of the company's shares.
According to RA AK&M, by the end of 2024, Russian Railways is among the leaders in the social efficiency rating of the largest Russian companies. Russian Railways' RAS net profit for 2025 increased by 1.4% to 14.1 billion rubles from 13.8 billion rubles a year earlier. EBITDA amounted to 984.2 billion rubles. with an increase of 16.3%.
The financial expenses of Russian Railways in 2025 amounted to 534.1 billion rubles, which is why the net profit for 2025 under IFRS decreased to 2.3 billion rubles from 50.7 billion rubles in 2024. Revenue from passenger transportation increased by 13% to RUB 473.1 billion.
